Last of 2009

One of the things I most proud of doing through 2009: Reading.
  • Milan Kundera - The Unbearable Lightness of Being
  • Milan Kundera - Laughable Loves
  • Charlotte Brontë - Jane Eyre
  • Jane Austen - Mansfield Park
  • Jane Austen - Love & Friendship
  • Jane Austen - Emma
  • Jane Austen - Sense & Sensibility
  • Jane Austen - Pride & Prejudice
  • Jane Austen - Persuasion
So, from accurate dreams, to tears, to joy, a change of colors, a change of heart, music and books... good bye 2009.

Priceless

For the last 6 months I've recovered the pleasure of reading, specially Jane Austen. Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Emma, Love & Friendship and Persuasion which I almost finished in one day & Mansfield Park which I'm about to start. There is some irony... I spent a few years trying to read a particular book & even neglected reading...but as Mastercard says, to find out the only problem was the author...priceless

I could be...

Will the hushed tones disappear?

Getaway

If I could ride this slide into forever
What would I give to getaway
That pain that stayed
Seemed like forever

Where does the good go?

its love that leaves and breaks the seal of always thinking
you would be real happy and healthy strong and calm
...where does the good go?

Mad Season

I've been changin' - I think it's funny how no one knows
We don't talk about the little things that we do without
When that whole mad season comes around...

Rain King

Why am I so alone? I can't go outside
I'm scared I might not make it home
I'm alive, I'm alive but I'm sinking in
[...]
Hey, I only want the same as anyone
Henderson is waiting for the sun
Oh, it seems night endlessly begins and ends
After all the dreaming I come home again...

Elizabeth Bennet

"This is not fair. You wish to think all the world respectable, and
are hurt if I speak ill of anybody. I only want to think you perfect,
and you set yourself against it. Do not be afraid of my running into any excess,
of my encroaching on your privilege of universal good-will. You need
not. There are few people whom I really love, and still fewer of whom I
think well. The more I see of the world, the more am I dissatisfied with
it; and every day confirms my belief of the inconsistency of all human
characters, and of the little dependence that can be placed on the appearance of
merit or sense." (Ch. 24) Pride & Prejudice

Elinor

I've trying to make portraits just in ink, with no previous pencil/charcoal sketch work.
So far this one took 20 mins with a fine & ultra fine sharpie.

Inspired by Elinor from Sense & Sensibility...

Barely Breathing

Duncan Sheik - Barely Breathing

Have you ever started doodling non-stop through a whole song? Well I did. And in this case even though the pic doesn't have the best quality you get an idea of my ranting...it includes the whole lyrics from Duncan Sheik's - Barely Breathing

I should scan my drawings mmm... I remembered the Friends episode where Phoebe said after she finished her song in Central Perk:

"If you want to receive e-mails about my upcoming shows, then please give me money so I can buy a computer"

...so in this case it would be, if you want me to scan my drawings, please donate so I can buy a scanner! haha....

Sentimental Heart

When you got a sentimental heart
Piece of the puzzle
And you're a missing part
What can you do with a sentimental heart?

This one is for the rainy days...

Spring came, rain fell
we ended up nowhere

S Club 8 - Spring came, rain fell

I don't know about you, but some rainy days if you are in the right mood its nice to hear some "rainy" songs.

My playlist would have to include:

  • Travis - Why does it always rain on me?
  • S Club 8 - Spring Came, Rain Fell
  • Prince - Purple Rain
  • Guns & Roses - November rain
  • Radiohead - High and Dry

Too much Jane Austen for me?

...nah...perhaps its just 'cause I watched the 2005 version of Pride & Prejudice & read Sense & Sensibility for a couple of hours...yeah, that must be it :P haha...

I am Elizabeth Bennet!

Take the Quiz here!

You are Elizabeth Bennet of Pride & Prejudice! You are intelligent, witty, and tremendously attractive. You have a good head on your shoulders, and oftentimes find yourself the lone beacon of reason in a sea of ridiculousness. You take great pleasure in many things. You are proficient in nearly all of them, though you will never own it. Lest you seem too perfect, you have a tendency toward prejudgement that serves you very ill indeed.

Who do you see looking back?

Take a look at yourself in a mirror who do you see looking back?
Is it the person you want to be?
Or is there someone else you were meant to be the
person you were meant to be but fell short of?
Is someone telling you you can’t or won’t? Because you can.
Believe that love is out there.
Believe that dreams come true every day. Because they do.
Sometimes happiness doesn’t come from money or fame or power.
Sometimes happiness comes from good friends
and family and the quiet nobility of leading a good life.
Believe that dreams come true every day. Because they do.
So take a look in that mirror and remind yourself to be happy
because you deserve to be. Believe that.
And believe that dreams come true every day. Because they do.

we lost sight of the bigger picture

disguising themselves as bad

A Comet Appears

The boy saw the comet and he felt as though his life had meaning. And when it went away, he waited his entire life for it to come back to him. It was more than just a comet because of what it brought to his life: direction, beauty, meaning.
There are many who couldn’t understand, and sometimes he walked among them. But even in his darkest hours, he knew in his heart that someday it would return to him, and his world would be whole again… And his belief in God and love and art would be re-awakened in his heart.

One Tree Hill

Last night I saw the season finale from One Tree Hill's season 6. Yet, one of my favorite quotes (meaning the one you can read above this) comes from the episode Hundred.

Ps. The title is from a song by The Shins - A Comet Appears

Do I have something to worry about?

quick one...15 mins, charcoal.
Do I have something to worry about?
He replied: No.
In the end, turns out he was right...just not as he intended.
At least one thing was true

I've been reading lots of Twitter Twister Stories, which are twitter stories made of the exact 140 characters, and those inspired this post. Maybe I'll try to illustrate more later.

As Time Goes By

Just for the record...

...this has been the year with most posts, 56 so far counting this one.
Any bets on what the final number of posts is going to be by the end of the year? I don't think I'll make it to a hundred, but we'll see!

Exception

How happy is the blameless vestal's lot!
The world forgetting, by the world forgot.
Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind!
Each pray'r accepted, and each wish resign'd;
..
Far other dreams my erring soul employ,
Far other raptures, of unholy joy:
When at the close of each sad, sorrowing day,
Fancy restores what vengeance snatch'd away,
Then conscience sleeps, and leaving nature free.
